ecotio2® Ultra AV A water based ultra-high performance ion exchange catalyst coating that utilises doped nano carbon technology to provide long term anti-bacteria, anti-virus, and anti-fungal performance even in low light and low temperature conditions that breaks down and deactivates viruses and bacteria on contact.
ecotio2® Ultra C – A two component ultra-high performance ion exchange catalyst coating that utilises doped nano carbon technology to provide long t erm anti-bacteria, anti-virus and anti-fungal performance even in low light and low temperature conditions, deodorises and deactivates unpleasant smells and reduces (VOC’s)
Photocatalyst Coatings NZ Ltd proudly supply ecotio2® range of anti-viral products, a range of quick acting, anti-viral surface coatings that provide long term surface protection. ecotio2® can be applied to many surface types to provide confidence to institutions, local authorities and the community through its effective and continual anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial activity. All ecotio2® anti-viral products are deemed non toxic to humans and animals by Japans SIAA. Once applied the surfaces dry to a hard long term anti-microbial coating

ecotio2® anti-viral application
ecotio2® ultra C and ecotio2® ultra AV are ultra-high-performance, ion exchange catalyst coatings that utilise doped nano carbon technology to provide long term bacteria, virus, fungal and odour protection. The coatings remain effective in low light and low temperature conditions, resulting in improved hygiene and the inactivation of harmful substances. The resulting safer, faster and easier cleaning properties offer major benefits for the end user. Once a surface has been coated with ecotio2® test results prove the coated surface will eradicate microbes and bacteria and unlike disinfectant type products will continue oxidising the virus for as long a the product remains on the surface.
Photocatalyst Coatings NZ Ltd proudly supply ecotio2® Ultra AV, the identical Antiviral and Antibacterial coating JAL is applying throughout all their aircraft, customer touchpoints, airport counters, check-in and all lounges located in Japan.
JAL Japanese airlines – anti viral application video
Back in November 2020, JAL began applying the antiviral and antibacterial coatings at domestic airport check-in counters, automated baggage check-in machines, check-in kiosks, boarding gate counters, on airstairs and will gradually expand the program at airports nationwide. Antiviral and antibacterial coatings have also been applied to airport security areas, wheelchairs, and baby strollers.
ecotio2® Photocatalyst Coatings “Ultra AV” coatings were successfully tested and certified against SARS‑CoV‑2 to JISZ2801 testing requirements utilising the ISO 22196 test methodology

Viral Infection is initiated by the attachment of a specialized site on the surface of the protein coat of the virus onto a specific receptor site on the surface of the host cell. Once this binding is complete viruses can release genetic materials into the host cell and take advantage of the machinery of the host cell to reproduce and assemble themselves. These newly produced viruses are now ready to infect other cells. Therefore, one of the key processes to disable viruses is through the control of their surface structure, especially their binding sites, so they can no longer recognize the receptor site on the host cells. As ecotio2® ultra anti-viral coatings act effectively on the virus’s surface, they represent an excellent viable technology to destroy the viruses surface structure. Functionalised nano-particles can affect the viruses due to chemical interactions between the molecule-functionalisers and molecule-receptors at the virus surface.
Our coatings are purpose fit and suitable for applying to a wide range of surfaces, touch points – door handles, touch screens, fabric, filter systems, walls, ceilings, stainless steel, office equipment, peripherals etc. The range is non-hazardous and environmentally friendly. Its application is ideal in work environments and public meeting points such as hospitals, retirement villages, educational institutions, pre-school centres, medical centres, shopping malls, transport hubs, restaurants, public amenities and many other locations.
Depending on the surface type there is an ecotio2® solution.
